People, Places, & Things From A to Z: The L List

Luxembourg City was the first European city that I explored at a leisurely pace while a young airman stationed nearby. In that city on a very wide boulevard, I ordered trout. This was my first time eating at a sidewalk café, and the first time I looked at a meal that looked back at me. The trout was served with its head and eyes firmly in place. (Back in the day seafood in Kansas seemed limited to frozen, thickly breaded shrimp, and outside dining would then be primitive.) On this sunny June day with fashionable micro miniskirts on parade, I didn’t have a care in the world except for avoiding the trout’s glare and bones.

Through the decades other wonders would also appear in Liege (Belgium), Limoux (France), Lindau (Germany), London (England), Lunenburg (Nova Scotia), and my favorite Ljubljana (Slovenia).

NEXT STOP “M”
Expect to soon see “Places” such as Managua (Nicaragua), Marathon (Texas), Marfa (Texas) and Motovun (Croatia). “Things” might include a motor scooter, a motel, marionettes, and the Moulin Rouge. And maybe “People” images related to Mondrian and Mozart.
