“E” is the most common letter in English usage, but not so common at the beginning of words. Two E words describe my photo search for this journal entry: Elusive and (almost) Empty. Finally, I could shout, “Eureka!” (a nearby Kansas town).

The E people, places and things on my decades-deep stack of photos are overrepresented with Route 66 attractions and birds.
THE MOTHER ROAD
My Route 66 photo inventory includes a couple of Elvis mannequins, but my photos of the “King” are not great. From Route 66 I have included Eisler Brother’s Market, one of a very few attractions along the 13 miles that clip the corner of Kansas. The Edsel has been parked in Seligman, Arizona forever. EmmaJean’s (California) parking lot is always full of lethal-looking motorcycles, but they are ridden by doctors and lawyers. You can bring the kids.

FAUNA AND FOWL
Birds are another over-represented category for E. The eagle grasps his breakfast just outside the window of my lodging’s sunny breakfast room on a cliffside over Lake Superior. The egret is in my backyard. The plastic flamingos’ location is evident. The elk was photographed in Yoho National Park, British Columbia.

In the coming weeks I invite you to continue this photographic journey through the alphabet to "Z". If you know the loveliest, weirdest, or otherwise noteworthy “E” subject, please comment here or at ncarrstudio.com.

Also share your F List in anticipation of my next installment. A Ford or two; Friday Harbor in the San Juans; cities named Florence; Figueres, Spain; and the number 481 will be included.
