In the last post I highlighted people, places, and things I have known that begin with the letter A. I mentioned several but forgot many more such as Aranjuez, Arles, Avignon, and the Atomium.

Now as I consider the letter B, I wonder, is it just me or does “B” begin more than its fair share of place names? Moreover, the letter might be unfairly represented with double-letter locations: Big Bend (National Park); Brussels, Belgium; Bastogne, Belgium; Bruges, Belgium; Beaver Bay (Minnesota), and Badwater Basin (Death Valley National Park). Except for last two, I have spent at least one night in these locations plus days and nights in Boston; Basel (Switzerland); Besalú (Spain); Boots Motor Court (Carthage, Missouri); Bangkok; Bitburg (Germany); and Bryce Canyon (National Park).

On miscellaneous visits, I enjoyed a long lunch in Bratislava (Slovakia), had ice cream at the Bagdad Café (Newberry Springs, California), and ate a slice of blackberry peach at Betty’s Pies. Rounding out my remembrances are a drive to Bosnia, seeing the oddities of Bottle Tree Ranch (Route 66); happening upon Bohinj Lake (Slovenia); and a wild ride in a “go-fast” boat to the Blue Grotto (somewhere in the Adriatic Sea).

In the coming weeks you can join me for a photographic journey through the alphabet to "Z". If you know the loveliest, weirdest, or otherwise noteworthy “B” subject, please comment here or at ncarrstudio.com. Also consider your C List in anticipation of my next installment which might include Crater Lake, Carlsbad, or Canyonlands National Parks; Cascade River State Park (Minnesota); Colmar and/or Collioure, France; Český Krumlov, Czech Republic; Costa Brava (Spain); Cologne; Colón, Panama; Camden, Maine; Cannon Beach, Oregon; Calico Rock, Arkansas; Calcutta; Cezanne’s studio; Chichén Itzá and/or Coba, Yucatán.
